These are stories that I collected as I talked to the elders and other people on reserves that I visited. What I have tried to do is present a different point of view to accepted aboriginal history and culture.

Symbols are used in many different ways -- company logos, athletic teams, countries and clubs just to name a few. Aboriginal people have many symbols, some in their own and others given to them. This essay discusses what I think is the most important signal of these cultures.

We live in an age of symbols -- logos, sports, highway and washrooms signs, advertising -- the signs are all around us. Various cultural groups have their symbols -- the turban, a Stetson hat, a kilt or the wearing of the green. This essay explains, what I think is the symbol of the aboriginal people.
