These are stories that I collected as I talked to the elders and other people on reserves that I visited. What I have tried to do is present a different point of view to accepted aboriginal history and culture.

| Violence Is Not the Answer |

In our society,, the answer to any disagreement is usually some form of violence -- war, bullying, strikes, lockouts, layoffs, poverty and racism. Even on the playgrounds, fighting has become part of the game. Violence has permeated every aspect of our society.
We have to find a new solution to resolving disagreements.

We live in an age of symbols -- logos, sports, highway and washrooms signs, advertising -- the signs are all around us. Various cultural groups have their symbols -- the turban, a Stetson hat, a kilt or the wearing of the green. This essay explains, what I think is the symbol of the aboriginal people.
